The Wave That Tried to Get Me

A wave comes over the jetty and splashes onto the beach in Coos Bay Oregon
We walked a beautiful beach on the way home from our trip to Bandon Oregon. The beach was just a couple miles out of Coos Bay Oregon. I think it was called Bassendorf beach though I’m almost positive I have it mispelled. There are some words not even Google can help you with.

A jetty ran acrossed the beach and out into the ocean and the waves were beating up against it, throwing salty ocean water up into the air. I had determined to get a picture of all this with our dying digital camera. To do so, however, I had to get as close as I could and turn the camera on about 2.5 seconds before I wanted to take the picture, hold the button down, and get the picture just before the camera gave up and turned off.

On about my twentieth attempt at capturing a decent picture of the crashing waves I had actually come to the point where I was standing on the rocks in the above picture. While I was struggling with the digital camera, I happened to glance back up over the rocks to see a huge wave coming towards the jetty.

I turned to run but I wasn’t fast enough and a wave blasted up over the jetty and gallons of ocean water slapped onto the beach and also onto my unfortunate head. I was instantly soaked from head to toe while Amanda, my wife, and Steve and Melissa, our friends, laughed hysterically at me.
