My First Coastal Camping Trip- Honeyman Camp Ground
The only time I had ever been camping was when I was 18 in California. My husband had always camped since he was a kid. When we got married he told me how nice it was to camp by the beach. I agreed that this sounded fun. Finally after almost 4 years of marriage I went on my first camping trip with him.
We went to Honeyman Camp Ground in Florence. I don’t like some of the Florence beaches because it’s always very windy. We found that if we traveled about a mile down we could find a nice beach surrounded by cliffs to walk on.
We went on a weekend so everyone was out camping it seemed. Also because it was summer it was very noisy at the camp ground. We have a huge tent that looks more like a house and for some reason we got the wettest, smallest camp spot. We couldn’t have a fire because our tent was so big. Next time we’ll have to ask for a bigger spot. We tried sleeping on the ground but that didn’t work so we now have an air mattress for our next trip. Other than those little set backs it was fun.
The next time we might try Beverly Camp Ground which is out by Newport. It was kind of neat being in the tent. I want to be able to have a fire next time. That way we can tell scary stories and cook things. Camping a is a cheap, fun way to explore the beach.
