I Love Newport

Published by admin at 12:00 am under Newport

I love Newport, Oregon. Ever since I first visited in the early 90’s I have not been able to forget this beautiful coastal town. Newport is one of the main cities visited by tourists and coast lovers. There are many beautiful sights for free or a small amount. There is the bayfront which is a must see. Who can resist walking down the streets even if it is crowded and stopping by the shops and galleries. My favorite place to see is the Cat Gallery. If you are a cat lover you will love this place. There are interesting toys and neat gifts for your cat or cat lover. The thing my husband found most interesting was this cat toy that is actually a small brown paper bag. It has some kind of ball or something mechanical inside it that makes it jump around. It will not only fascinate your cat but you also. It was so funny to see people chasing the bag and trying to see what was making it move. Some people got scared of it.

Another place I love to stop in at is the Newport Candy Shop. Now there are lots of candy shops there, but the Newport Candy Shop is the best. There are all kinds of yummy treats there such as caramel corn, a personal favorite and taffy. Everything is fresh. They even have a taffy machine. You can watch through the window how the taffy is made. The taffy just melts in your mouth. I want to go back now because I’m almost out of taffy. Waah! Oh well. There’s always next time.

Rippleys Believe It Or Not and the Wax Museum are some other places you don’t want to miss. You can see all sorts of strange things. The figures look so real sometimes I think they’re human, especially in the dark. Some of the strange sights are a bearded woman and a mermaid. I’ve been visiting there since I was 11 and still enjoy it. I went last year and they had a deal of $17 per person. This was for three attractions. It was for Rippleys, The Wax Museum and Undersea Gardens. Undersea Gardens is a neat place for kids to visit. There is a show of different sea creatures and the divers pick up different creatures such as the starfish and talk about them.

Another big attraction is the Oregon Coast Aquarium. This costs $11 per person. It is a big place where you can see all kinds of animals besides fish. They have different kinds of birds and sea otters to name a few other animals. I like going to the part where there is nothing but glass all around you. There’s even glass on the floor so it looks like you’re floating in the ocean. It’s pretty neat. Makes you get a feeling of how the divers must feel. There are even sharks in the aquarium. Yikes!

There are lots of other cool things to see not to mention the beach. I will be adding more pictures of our trip we took this month and of the attractions. Hope you enjoyed this and maybe I’ll see you in Newport.
